(Open Letter to the Minister for Women)

Dear Louise Upston,

Under the Official Information Act, could you please supply me with a copy of each of the following documents:

  1. Any documents which prove that New Zealand women need a Ministry for Women more than New Zealand men need a Ministry for Men. New Zealand has a Ministry for Women but no Ministry for Men. If this state of affairs is the result of rational thinking, there will be documents which prove that this state of affairs is appropriate. If there are no such documents, it will prove that this state of affairs is the result of sexism, bullying and the totalitarian control of information by the media and education system.

  2. Any documents which discuss the relative advantages and disadvantages of men's and women's roles in society. This does not include documents which discuss only disadvantages allegedly suffered by women, unless these documents also prove that men do not suffer any disadvantages.

I received the following reply:

Minister for Women's letter 26 September 2015

I later wrote to Louise Upston's successor as Minister for Women as follows:

My letter to the Minister for Women 14 January 2017, page 1
My letter to the Minister for Women 14 January 2017, page 2

Paula Bennett then replied as follows:

Minister for Women's letter 9 February 2017
